This is a unique opportunity to manage a high-visibility, cross-functional project focused on launching a key initiative. As the dedicated Project Manager (Contract), you will be responsible for aligning stakeholders, ensuring accountability, and driving progress across multiple functional areas including Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Graduate Medical Education (GME) office, Operations, Benefits, Recruitment, and Marketing. This role requires someone who can lead by influence, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and deliver results in a dynamic, regulated environment. 

This is a temporary contractor position with anticipated full-time work in the first few months and a decrease in hours as the project moves forward. The hours will be fluid as the demands of the project vary.  The expected duration of the project is approximately 9-12 months.  The role is not eligible for direct company benefits but offers a competitive hourly rate and potential for extension based on business needs and project milestones. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end project management for a single strategic initiative, from planning through execution and close-out.
  • Lead cross-functional teams without direct authority by fostering alignment and accountability across diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Graduate Medical Education and other departments to ensure operational feasibility and cost alignment.
  • Create, manage, and maintain detailed project plans, risk registers, and communication cadences.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and progress updates; escalate issues with data-driven recommendations.
  • Serve as one of the central points of contact for all project-related matters, coordinating internal departments and external partners.
  • Track project performance, using appropriate tools and KPIs to monitor progress, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in the medical education or healthcare field
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects with significant visibility and impact.
  • Strong business acumen and familiarity with leading highly cross-functional projects.
  • Proven ability to lead by influence, manage through ambiguity, and drive alignment in matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience delivering clear, concise executive presentations with an emphasis on strategic progress and risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • PMP or CAPM certification preferred.
  • Physician resident program work preferred. (eg ACGME or GME)
