The Regional Care Delivery Vice President supports the Northwest Permanente Chief Operating Officer in establishing and setting the vision for care delivery in Kaiser Permanente Northwest and aligns short and long-term actions, daily operations, communications, and strategies to achieve key outcomes. This position actively collaborates with Kaiser Health Plan to enhance local market success and achieve regional operational goals. Major Responsibilities:
- Supports the Chief Operating Officer in developing and establishing an implementation plan for business strategies to achieve primary objectives. Provides leadership in building a team which will assume responsibility and accountability for achieving both the mission and the financial/operational objectives of the Northwest region.
- Promotes open, effective, and ongoing communication along with the sharing of information among and between Northwest Permanente administrative employees, Kaiser Health Plan administrative leaders and employees, physician leadership, and medical staff.
- Creates a culture which is action-oriented, flexible and poised to seize opportunities to advance quality, service, and performance. Ensures the integration of quality, service, and efficiency improvements into day-to-day operations.
- Collaborates with Northwest Permanente’s Senior Operations Team, to develop the short and long-term business and clinical strategy for the region and provides strategic leadership to ensure equitable distribution of resources and delivery of high quality, cost-effective healthcare.
- Assists in facilitating collaboration between primary care and specialty care departments, hospital services, Kaiser Health Plan and labor leadership.
- Creates and maintains external working relationships with hospital systems regionally and local community leaders to include, city, county and outside healthcare/ social service entities and vendors who serve the ambulatory and hospital functions.
- Models and reinforces ethical behavior in accordance with organizational policies and guidelines, supports compliance initiatives, maintains confidence, admits mistakes, conducts business with honesty, and shows consistency in words and actions, and follows through on commitments.
- Provides and ensures appropriate access to services. Ensures care meets quality and service standards. Develops strategy to ensure long-term success for functions and programs including provision of care and community relations.
Minimum Education, Certification and Work Experience:
- Master's degree in healthcare, hospital, business or public administration, or related field.
- Minimum twelve (12) years of general management experience in a complex, multi-faceted healthcare setting.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in working with a large physician group practice managing through influence and collaboration.
- Proven track record of successful leadership in healthcare operations, staff development, physician group model practice, and/or management consulting, including budget development.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following key competencies: service orientation, communication, influence, change leadership, results orientation, team/leadership development, cultural competence and collaboration.
- Visionary, progressive professional who has a solid understanding of Kaiser Permanente operations, industry trends, and the history and potential of Kaiser Permanente.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams through influence and collaboration. Success in leading complex initiatives and projects with experience in areas such as strategic planning, financial management, quality improvement, project management, human resources management and compliance.
- Outstanding leadership presence, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must exhibit emotional intelligence, efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation.
- Significant knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to the health care industry.
- Ambulatory care management experience strongly preferred.
- Prior experience leading and managing in a complex union/management environment preferred.
