We are seeking a temporary Communication Specialist to facilitate, coordinate, and develop web content and architecture. This role will be responsible for creating newsletters and oversee content management for newsletters and app for the medical group. In addition, this position will manage communication projects and work closely with clients to ensure print and electronic deliverables, business objectives and regulatory, legal and compliance requirements. The Communication Specialist creates materials to support the Northwest Permanente (NWP) strategic program.  NOTE: This position is a temporary non-benefited position and is scheduled to last anywhere from 4 to 6 months. 



    Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

    • Manage NWP’s intranet (a WordPress site). Ensure integrity, timeliness and accuracy of site content. Interface with KPIT to resolve technical issues.  Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other programming applications to support the learning, information and communication needs of NWP physicians and staff.
    • Write and edit straightforward and simple content for NWP, as well as for executive leadership communications programs and projects, including materials for newsletters, websites and other forms of internal communication to support the region’s strategic communication requirements.  Create and coordinate the production of communication materials.  Recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.  Ensure final placement of materials, including distribution, and provide miscellaneous follow-up.
    • Concept, shoot and edit videos.  Perform other duties as assigned.

      Create weekly and monthly newsletters using Dreamweaver and oversee content management for newsletters, including creating posts for articles in WordPress, adding content to app, and send push notifications to alert users to new content weekly.
    • Track analytics for all content and analyze web trends and formulate plans to optimize website and implement changes that align with current market and technology. Implement new technologies for development of pod-casts, video-casts, and online videos.

    Minimum Education & Work Experience:

    • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 5 years in a related field; 2 years of writing and editing experience; and 1 year of web content management and/or web development

    • Basic knowledge of copy editing techniques and notation

    • Interact comfortably with middle and executive management on communication matters
    • Excellent skills for planning, organizing, managing time, and setting priorities; ability to meet multiple deadlines
    • Ability to work at both conceptual and detail level; has great attention to detail
    • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and communication skills
    • Ability to work at both conceptual and detail level; has great attention to detail
    • Take initiative to “connect the dots” – link two articles that are related, propose new ideas or innovations
    • Work successfully with a variety of internal and external individuals by developing excellent working relationships and establishing a sound reputation of being a reliable resource
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Working knowledge of both PC and Mac platforms

    Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications:

    • 5 years’ experience in writing and editing, web design (HTML, JavaScript, ColdFusion, CSS, Dreamweaver), content management, graphics (image editing, design, photography), and experience in Acrobat, Word, Exceland Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Some experience in video production and post-production editing.
